3rd Health Challenges Congress (HCC) 2018
Dr. Jacek Walczak, President of Arcana Institute, recently participated in the 3rd Health Challenges Congress in Katowice, Poland on 8-10 March 2018. During a session on the ‘Health Status of the Population and its Impact on the Economy,’ Dr. Walczak spoke of the impact that chronic hand eczema has on the healthcare system, economy and society in Poland. Information of the disease and its impact in Poland has been collected and analyzed as part of a report produced by Arcana Institute. With information drawn from the report, Dr. Walczak noted the indirect costs associated with the disease, stating that 59% of cases of hand eczema stem from work-related activities, and that 1 in 3 of those affected by the disease change professions. Dr. Walczak emphasized the need for investing in the prevention of chronic hand eczema in professions where risk of the disease is greatest, which can leave workers unable to perform their jobs.
Dr. Walczak’s participation in the session is summarized in an article published by news site rynekzdrowia.pl.
